# Corbado at Identiverse 2026: Passkey Mass Adoption

## Key Facts

- **Shipping passkey code is day zero.** The work that decides success starts the morning
after launch, when real users have to actually use passkeys, and that is where most
  rollouts quietly stall.
- **Adoption is an operational problem, not a technical one.** Corbado's Identiverse 2026
session lays out a 5-phase playbook for moving passkey logins from a ~5% baseline to
  70-90% and beyond.
- **The session is grounded in production data** from one of the largest public-sector
passkey rollouts to date: passkeys live for more than 5 million users at a 70-90%
  activation rate.
- **Meet us in Las Vegas**, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 2:00-2:25 PM PDT, Mandalay Bay F.

## 1. Meet Corbado at Identiverse 2026

Corbado is speaking at [Identiverse 2026](https://identiverse.com/idv26/session/?idvid=3931671)
in Las Vegas on the part of a passkey rollout that nobody warns you about: the morning
after you ship.

Most passkey content stops at the integration. But implementing a
[WebAuthn server](https://www.corbado.com/webauthn) is the easy part. A big chunk of the work starts once real
users on real devices have to actually use passkeys, and that is where most rollouts
quietly stall. Whether you are in banking, telco, government or a large consumer brand, and
whether you run your own stack or sit on Ping or Okta, the hard part is the same: getting
millions of users to switch.

**Session details**

- **What:** Debunking the "my users don't understand passkeys" myth
- **When:** Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 2:00-2:25 PM PDT
- **Where:** Mandalay Bay F, Las Vegas

## 2. Adoption is a Product Problem, not a Tech Problem

The session walks through the operational playbook behind one of the largest public-sector
passkey rollouts to date, where passkeys went live for more than 5 million users at a
70-90% activation rate. It is less a talk about the technology and more about the human and
operational work that turns a passkey feature into a passkey default.

If you have already shipped passkeys but adoption is not moving, or you are about to roll
out and want to avoid the common failure modes, this is the session for you.

## 3. 5-Phase Adoption Playbook

The same five phases that take a passkey login from a ~5% baseline to 70-90% and beyond:

1. **Integration & testing.** Test against the full OS, browser and authenticator matrix.
Edge cases are where users get stuck. See
   [native app passkeys](https://www.corbado.com/blog/native-app-passkeys) and
   [password manager testing](https://www.corbado.com/blog/3rd-party-password-manager-passkey-app-testing).
2. **Gradual rollout.** Roll out in staggered cohorts, OS by OS, rather than a big bang,
with observability from day one, so issues stay contained instead of becoming
company-wide incidents. See the [passkey day 2 problems](https://www.corbado.com/blog/passkey-day-2-problems).
3. **Adoption engineering.** Treat the passkey prompt as a product surface. A/B-test
wording, timing and placement. Small changes compound into large swings. See
   [creation flows](https://www.corbado.com/blog/passkey-creation-best-practices) and
   [login flows](https://www.corbado.com/blog/passkey-login-best-practices).
4. **Omni-channel.** Make the flow consistent across web and native, so a passkey works the
   same everywhere users do.
5. **Enforce & mandate.** Once adoption is healthy, flip passwords from the default path to
the exception. Passkeys become the standard way to sign in.

## 4. Thread running through every Phase: Visibility

Most of the playbook is invisible until you can measure it. You can only roll out
gradually, fix the steps that lose users and prove adoption is healthy once you can
actually see what is happening across devices, browsers and authenticators.

That is the job of [Corbado Observe](https://www.corbado.com/observe): it sits on top of your existing stack and
shows where passkey logins break and where users drop off, so the playbook above becomes
something you can steer rather than guess at. Your IDP and passkey server stay exactly where
they are.

## 5. Let's meet in Vegas

Going to be at Identiverse 2026? If you are running a passkey rollout, about to start one,
or already live but stuck at low adoption, we would genuinely like to meet. Grab a coffee
between talks or [book a 30-minute walkthrough](https://www.corbado.com/contact).
